About Us
Our ATG History
Commerce Architects was founded in 2008 by several former ATG employees. We have each been working continuously with ATG Commerce for 10-13 years running. This experience has given us a deep understanding of the entire Oracle ATG Web Commerce suite of applications. It has also given us insight into how to structure business and technical teams to effectively build and manage an Oracle ATG Web Commerce website. We believe that smaller groups of expert ATG developers provide more stable software, especially when working with a complex framework such as ATG. To realize the benefit of ATG's advanced functionality, you absolutely have to have a solid foundation to build on. To provide this level of service, we have assembled the best ATG developers that we have worked with over the years, including several other former ATG employees. This model has been highly successful with end-to-end implementations. The benefits of this approach can be seen with the speed in which our clients are able to roll out new features and continue to grow their e-commerce business by continually evolving their Oracle ATG Web Commerce applications.
Jay Fennelly - Partner
Jay has been working with the ATG platform continuously for the past 13 years. He has contributed his technical expertise to application architecture, design, and development as well as testing, deployment, and on-going support and sustainment of live sites.
Before helping to start Commerce Architects, Jay spent 3 years as a subject-matter expert consultant to the world's largest ATG installation at Intuit, Inc while also working with other clients on short-term engagements. Prior to working as an independent consultant, Jay spent 3 years in ATG's technical support group problem solving and fire fighting some of the most difficult issues faced by ATG customers and partners. He then spent 2 years in ATG's professional services group on several large implementation projects. During his 5 years as an ATG employee, Jay developed a deep and comprehensive understanding of the architecture and inner workings of the ATG platform and product suite.
Jay holds a bachelors degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a masters degree in engineering from Stanford University.
Joe Conaty - Partner
Joe crossed over from Chemical Engineering to programming while working for HP in 1998. During a classic confrontation between hardware and software, he infiltrated the software team and wrote code to win the hardware argument (it really was the software's fault as previously written). The dark side is seductive - he joined the software team and got hooked. Soon after he discovered the incredible framework that is ATG and has been working with it ever since. Going through ATG platform launches with J. Crew, Nike, Martha Stewart, The Body Shop, DIRECTV, RoadRunnerSports, Coke, New York and company, NutriSystem and bodybuilding.com has given him a deep understanding of the ATG product stack and what it takes to guide an ATG application to a successful production launch. He has in-depth experience in every step down the path from requirements analysis > software design > development > production deployment and finally training and transition to internal development and operations teams. His projects have included development with the core of the Oracle ATG Web Commerce stack, including BCC / Merchandising, Commerce Search, and Commerce Service Center. As someone who likes variety, he enjoys both hands-on technical and business/strategy roles. He takes great pride in the team of incredible ATG engineers that he and his partners have assembled on the consulting staff at Commerce Architects. Doing quality work with quality people makes work fun.
Joe holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
